The current study aims at recognizing the effectiveness of scientific investigation in developing the cognitive processes in science of the preparatory stages students The Problem of the Research : 1)To what extent are the scientific investigation skills available in the content of science textbooks of the preparatory stage? 2)How can a scientific investigation –based unit be built for developing science cognitive processes of third year preparatory students in lights of TIMSS project? 3)To what extent is the proposed unit effective in developing science cognitive process among preparatory stage students in light of TIMSS project . Purpose of Research This study aimed at : 1)Investigating to what extent scientific investigation skills are available in the content of science textbooks of the preparatory stage. 2) Designing a scientific investigation- based unit for developing science cognitive processes of third year preparatory students in light of TIMSS Project. 3Investigating the effectiveness of the proposed unit in developing science cognitive processes among preparatory stage students in light of TIMSS project . 4)Developing students skills of practicing scientific investigation processes as one of the purposes of scientific education.
