Abstract

”General anesthesia has an important role in cesrean section particularly in emergency or non-elective situations . ”Sevoflurane is a volatile anesthetic with low blood gas partition coefficient which should allow for a smooth, rapid emergence from general anesthesia, since maternal and fetal effects of halothane and isoflurane were previously studied while informations about sevoflurane and its effects are scarce so our study was designed to assess the maternal and fetal effects of sevoflurane during general anesthesia for cesarean section . ” The study was performed on sixty femal submitted for elective primary or repeat cesarean delivery, patients were randomly allocated to one of three groups, sevoflurane group, at concentration of 1% , Isoflurane group (0.75% ) and Halothane group (0.5%) from the results of our study we concluded that the use of either sevoflurane, isoflurane or halothane during general anesthesia for cesarean section has no remarkable effects on the maternal and neonatal outcome except for the relatively faster recovery after sevoflurane anesthesia.
