Abstract

The setting in which health care is delivered is evolving quickly. The complexity of illnesses and the advancement of technology, for example, have an impact on the delivery of care as well as nurses’ performance and raise the need for high-quality healthcare globally. So the aim of this research was to assess the relationship between hospital work environment on nurses’ performance in critical setting. Research design: A descriptive correlational design was utilized in the current study. Setting: The study was conducted at General Minia Hospital. Sample: Convenience sample included all nurses working in critical units more than six months in nursing work experience and worked on a regular basis on the hospital with (no.95). Tools of data collection: Two tools, the first tool was nurses’ work environment tool and the second tool was Observational Nursing Performance. Results: These findings revealed that approximately three quarters of nurses had bad work nurse environment, also less than fifth of them had good work nurse environment. Moreover in the average of the three observations show that more than fifty percent of nurses have unsatisfactory performance, while more than one third of them have satisfactory performance. Conclusion: There were positive correlation between nurse’s work environment and their performance. Recommendations: Enhance a supportive work environment by the nurse manager as effective way to increase nurses’ psychological bonding and enhancing positive work-related outcomes that may, in turn, enhance their performance.
