Abstract

UC is a long-term , recurrent inflammatory gastrointestinal illness . The most widely recognized theory of UC pathogenesis to date holds that environmental stimuli in a genetically susceptible host initiate an abnormal immune response against the gut microbiota , even though the exact origin of UC is still unknown .
Intestinal and extraintestinal symptoms of UC are characterizing flare-ups and remissions . Disease care must concentrate on obtaining and sustaining remission , preventing complications , enhancing quality of life , and reducing the effects of comorbid diseases because the course of the IBD is unpredictable and there is no known cure .
Clinical symptoms along with radiographic and endoscopic examinations are used to diagnose ulcerative colitis (UC) . Finding the right diagnosis is crucial since it affects treatment choices as well as the kind and timing of any necessary surgery .
The employment of non-invasive investigations like IUS is needed . IUS has the potential to avoid invasive diagnostic tests that may result in discomfort and potential complications . The ability to determine the extent, activity, severity, prognosis and response to therapy of UC , using radiology has long been a goal of clinical researchers . Unfortunately, no single investigation wether lab or radiological is perfect .
