Abstract

Psoriasis is a relatively common condition that occurs worldwide. The definite etiology for developing psoriasis is still not fully elucidated. Matricellular proteins are dynamically expressed and are secreted into the extracellular microenvironment, notably the extracellular matrix (ECM).They include members of the cellular communication network (CCN) family of matricellular proteins, which include CCN1–6.In the present study, we aimed to examine the serum level of CCN3 in psoriatic patients in comparison to healthy subjects, and to assess its possible association with disease severity. This is an observational case-control study that was performed at the Dermatology and Venerology Department, Tanta University Hospitals. The study included 48 adult patients with psoriasis who were recruited consequently from the outpatient clinics of the Dermatology and Venerology Department, Tanta University Hospitals. Additional 48 age- and sexmatched healthy individuals were included as a control group for comparison.
