Rhetoric, with its various sections, is considered one of the most important means of conveying meanings. This is why it has received great attention throughout the different eras. “The Arabs have known brevity since the earliest times, and they made it their goal in their poetry, seeking it and seeking it. They also made it a means of elevating their poetic art to the level of allusion that the ears do not tire of, and the tastes are not alienated from. They also made it a means and an end.” For them, critics have also made it a basic standard by which they measure this poetic art, so they praise good and concise poetry, and praise bad and verbose poetry.This interest was not limited to Arabs only, but extended to others. Al-Jahiz says: “Muammar, Abu Al-Ash’ath, said: I said to Bahla Al-Hindi during the days when Yahya bin Khalid brought Indian doctors: What is eloquence in India? Bahla said: We have a written document on that, but I am not good at translating it for you, and I have not dealt with this art so I trust myself to perform its characteristics. And summarizing the spectrum of its meanings, Abu Al-Ash’ath said: So I found this translation sheet and found in it:The beginning of eloquence is the combination of the eloquent instrument, and that is for the orator to be composed, calm in his limbs, short of temper, and chosen in his words. He does not speak to the master of the nation with the words of the nation, nor to the kings with the words of the vulgar, and he has in his powers the virtue of disposing of every class, and does not carefully examine the meanings, and does not refine the words. He does not refine it completely, nor does he refine it to the utmost refinement, and he does not do that until he encounters a wise man, or a knowledgeable philosopher, and one who has become accustomed to deleting trivial speech and dropping common words, and who has looked at the making of logic from the point of view of artifice and exaggeration, not from the point of view of objection and browsing. And in the face of extremism and exaggeration.
