Abstract

In this thesis, a smart house surveillance robot is designed and put into action.Using artificial intelligence (AI) methods like face detection and face recognition. The proposed robot can recognise humans whether or not they are authorised. The robot is also capable of moving throughout the house and gathering information from numerous sensors including those for temperature, humidity, and gas. Two microcontrollers serve as the system’s primary components. The robot’s sensors are read by the first microcontroller, an Arduino Uno which is also responsible for detecting problems in the environment and controlling the robot’s movement using an app on the attached mobile phone (Bluetooth RC controller) through Bluetooth. A more advanced Raspberry Pi serves as the second microcontroller and is in charge of the AI component. Due to its quick processing, it is utilised to examine more difficult jobs like facial recognition software and image analysis. Pi, the camera has been put on the robot. It is in charge of the AI component, since the camera collects a number of images of the subject in front of it from various angles in order to get the most accurate diagnosis. The images are saved in a file, and other images can be added. 60% of the data set are used for training and 40% for testing. In the training phase, multiple attempts are performed to identify the people with high accuracy and to make the closest forecast of who they are. A test is conducted on the robot during the testing phase to determine whether the visitor is a guest or one of the home’s owners. The Arduino C programming language is used to programme the microcontroller (Arduino Uno). Using MATLAB version 2021, the AI component has been constructed on the controller (Raspberry Pi). The proposed robot’s performance revealed a number of distinctive characteristics, including:- small size, low cost, low power consumption, expand band boundaries and increase`safety.
