Abstract

Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) is one of the most important topics in management that has recently arisen. OCB is strongly affected by a variety of factors related to individuals’ views, behaviors, and attitudes toward the organization. Organ (1988) defined OCB as a set of employees’ discretionary interactions that support the optimal running of the business without monetary compensation, including unpaid overtime. OCB shows employees’ voluntary efforts for the benefit of their organizations; as a result, it is generally defined as overall performance or behaviors that go beyond the call of duty. When employees believe they are receiving equitable outcomes as well as being treated fairly at work, they perform better and contribute more than their official job descriptions, Organizational justice, in particular, is concerned with how individuals determine whether they have been treated fairly at work and how this influences other aspects related to work. One of the most essential variables influencing employees’ citizenship behaviors is organizational trust. Employees working in an environment that fosters organizational trust may be able to contribute to the organization’s goals, voice their opinions freely, and take initiative. Organizational commitment may have beneficial results for organizations and individuals, such as high work efficiency, productivity, work performance, and OCB. This research aims at a deeper understanding of the relationship between organizational justice and organizational citizenship behavior, considering organizational trust and affective commitment as mediating variables. The proposed model will be tested via a comparison study between the public and private Egyptian fertilizer companies. A quantitative research method was used in this research, as the research examined the mediating role of organizational trust and affective commitment on the relationship between organizational justice and organizational citizenship behavior using a survey research approach.
