Abstract
Antimicrobial resistance by MDR bacteria poses a profound threat to human health. This study helps to explore the potential antimicrobial effect of meropenem conjugated with chitosan & AgNPs (MEM-CS-AgNPs) on carbapenem-resistant bacteria phenotypically and genotypically.
Initially, one hundred-eight gram-negative bacterial isolates were collected from adult cancer patients. The isolates were re-identified according to cultural, gram stain, and biochemical tests and confirmed by VITEK 2 system.
The isolates that have been taken were (45) isolates for E.Coli, (38) isolates for Klebsiella species,(9) isolates for Acromobacter species, (5) isolates for Acinetobacter baumanii,(4) isolates for Enterobacter aerogens, (2) isolates for Raoultellaornithinolytica,(2) isolates for Serratia fonticola, (1) isolates for Citrobacter brakii, Proteus mirabilis, Comamonastestosteroni.
