Abstract
Diabetes is one of the most common health problems world wide. About 10% of Egyptian population have diabetes and this figure is expected to reach 13.3% in 2025. lower level of plasma adiponectin is associated with a higher incidence of T2DM it has been shown in some previous studies to be related to the degree of glycemic contol and plasma lipid in diabetic patients. As there is scarce data on adiponectin levels in Egyptian population, the aim of the present study was to evaluate the relationship between adiponectin level and HbA1c, and the lipid profile in patients with T2DM. The study was a cross {u2013} sectional analytical study included 40 patients with T2DM aged (35-70) years, they were 23 females (57.5%) and 17 males (42.5%) with a BMI (19.8-36.4) Kg/m2 .Patients with anaemia ,renal impairment or liver failure have been excluded.They were compared to 20 age and sex matched healthy control subjects. they were subjected to thorough clinical evaluation , labortory tests included CBC,creatinine,ALT,s.albumin,billirubin and INR and measurments of FBG, post prandial blood glucose,HbA1C,fasting total cholestrol ,LDL,HDL and TG were done
