المستخلص

The current study aimed to reveal the developmental differences in
both self-regulation and attachment styles during the late childhood, early
and middle adolescence stages in a sample of children and adolescents. The
sample consisted of 300 children and adolescents. Two Scales were used:
Self-regulation as Mental Ability Scale, was prepared by the researcher,
and Bartholomew’s Relationship Scales Intelligence to measure attachment
style, translated by Randa Abbas. The result of the study support the first
hypothesis, which is that there are significant differences between late
childhood, early adolescence and middle adolescence in each of the three
components of self-regulation (cognitive, emotional, and behavioral) and
the total score. With regard to the third hypothesis, the result of the study
revealed with regard to the essential effect of attachment style and age on
the cognitive, affective and behavioral components of self-regulation, the
existence of a substantial effect of attachment style and age on these
components, but the interaction between them did not have a significant
impact on these abilities.
