Abstract

The present study was carried out at Genetics Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Kafrelsheikh University and Sakha Agriculture Research Station, during 2015, 2016 and 2017 growing seasons to study the inheritance of growth habits and some economical traits ( heterosis, gene action, heritability, and their interaction with environment ) associated with it in an intra-specific cross between different genetic materials sources (Egyptian, American, Indian, and Russian cotton ) belonging to Gossypium barbadense L.
The genetic materials used in the present study included fourteen genotypes: belonging to (Gossypium barbadense L.). eight of them belong to Egyptian cotton i.e., (Giza 86, Giza 68, Giza 96, Giza 94, Giza 92, Giza 70, Giza 93, and Giza 45. While the other six genotypes were foreign cotton cultivars {Karshenky (Russian variety), Suven Indian variety, Pima S6, pima high percentage, C.B.58 (American Egyptian variety) and B.B.B. (greek variety)}.
