Tourism has not become that industry confined to leisure travel or cultural travel as it was in the past. Now, it includes plenty of varied activities, plenty of trends and different travel motivations. The tourism industry has developed to become a major industry controlled by a set of rules and regulations that organise its smooth running. Tourism has become one of the main pillars, which the economies of many developed or developing countries depend on. It is a composite of several elements e.g. transport the hospitality industry, the catering industry in addition to other industries, which constitute its basic components. It can be said that tourism is a group of interconnected elements that join together to bring about what is known as the tourism product and the tourism offer. Tourism has an important economic role for countries as it provides foreign exchange and different job opportunities in its various activities as well as in its other associated activities. It helps in realising an economic balance and creating coherence with other sectors including the industrial sector, the agricultural sector and the service sector e.g. transport, communications and travel. Moreover, tourism has an effective economic role as it plays a significant role in the employment process, improves the relationship amongst different communities, raises the local inhabitants’ awareness and helps in creating real developed societies. The tourists’ movement is not stable, as it is always affected by tourists’ different travel motivations, desires and experiences. It is also supported by factors of satisfaction and attractions that must be provided for tourists in the tourism destination. In Egypt(2019), Tourism is regarded as one of the most important industries. This is due to the fundamental role it plays in the Egyptian economy as well as in the Egyptian development process. When it comes to figures, tourism in Egypt represents 49% of the total exports of services, 20% of the foreign exchange returns, and 7% of the gross domestic product ”GDP ”that can be raised to 11.3%”. It also represents 7.8% of the investment in the sector of services, 25% of taxes on services and 3.5% of the total taxes on sales. Tourism in Egypt also plays a key role in decreasing the unemployment rate as it offers different job opportunities for youths representing 12.6% of the total Egyptian labour. Egypt has many tourism potentials in many governorates e.g. Dakahlia Governorate. These potentials could be exploited to meet the different travel motivations and create more than one type of tourism e.g. leisure tourism, cultural tourism, religious tourism, environmental tourism, as well as and many others. The tourism development requires a tourism planning process to convert a certain area into a real tourism destination. The tourism development is keen on studying the area from different sides and aspects. It depends on various development programmes aimed at achieving continuous and balanced increase in tourism resources and rationalising production in the tourism sector. The tourism development; as a part of the inclusive development has an effective role in economic, social and political fields. The importance of the tourism development can be also represented protecting the national wealth and maintaining natural, historical and archeological components in tourism sites of the host countries. Many countries have begun to encourage the domestic tourism due to its importance in enhancing the national income and encouraging the tourism investment. Dakahlia Governorate has many tourist attractions ranging between natural attractions and manmade attractions. It includes the basic components of the tourist destination, as it has many historical sites that can be exploited for cultural tourism, the most famous medical centres that can be exploited for medical tourism, in addition to the existence of facilities, infrastructures and superstructures to cater to the needs of tourists. Dakahlia Governorate is also characterised by its unique location amongst governorates of the Egyptian delta and its closeness to major Egyptian cities such as Cairo and Alexandria.
