Abstract

The current research aimed to investigate the effectiveness of
Flipped – Differentiated strategy in developing some EFL writing skills
(unity, coherence, Grammar, organization, and mechanics of writing) of EFL
second year college students. This aim was accomplished by implementing
the flipped – differentiated strategy through a matrix of activities based on
multiple intelligence inventory. Ninety students enrolled in the second year,
English language section, Faculty of Education, Shebin, El–Kom, Menoufia
University, were the participants of this research .Multiple intelligences
inventory was administered to the whole sample to divide them according to
their strongest dominated intelligence. The intelligences addressed were
verbal/ linguistic, visual/ spatial, and logical/ mathematical. The researcher
designed an EFL writing skills checklist, an EFL pre-post writing test, a
scoring rubric to be used for grading students’ writings, and a program based
on the flipped -differentiated strategy. The data obtained were statistically
analyzed. Findings revealed that the proposed program based on flipped –
differentiated strategy was effective in developing EFL second year college
students writing skills of (Descriptive, narrative, and argumentative)
paragraph, and essay. In addition, the visual group outperformed the other
two groups in the posttest.
