المستخلص The aims of the study reside in analysing the selected novels in order to manifest why they can be labelled as acutely Africana womanist texts. In this regard, the analysis is devoted to examine not only the Africana women’s experience, but also Africana men’s attitudes in order to expose how the female characters could incarnate most of the characteristics of Hudson-Weems’ Africana Womanism. In addition, the thesis goes further to stress the continuity in embodying the Africana womanist tenets in the selected novels during the colonial, emergency and postcolonial periods. For this reason, it sheds light on the Kenyan women’s persistent struggle against all oppressive forces and their strength in overcoming all obstacles put in their way. In this sense, the study is not only concerned with challenging the conventional stereotype of Africana women, but with destroying it as well. |
