Abstract

This experimental work was carried out at El-Serw Research Station for Waterfowls, Animal Production Research Institute, Agriculture Research Center. The experiment was extended from March (2014) to June (2014). A total number of 120 day-old ducklings from each Muscovy (foreign) and Mulard (sterile and artificial hybrid resulting from an inter-cross between a Muscovy drake and a female common duck (Anus plutyrhynchos) one day old were obtained from El- Francea Company for Duck Production. were used to evaluate the growth performance of Muscovy ducks under Egyptian environmental condition during the growing and force feeding period. All birds were sexed individually by vent method (Japanese method), wing banded, weighed and divided randomly to two equal groups. Each group (60 ducklings) was housed in well-ventilated pens. Birds were fed starter ration from one-day old to 6 weeks of age, grower ration from 6-11 weeks of age and of the force feeding diets (12 – 14) weeks of age (the end of experiment.). from one-day old (zero time) till the end of the 11 weeks of age (fattening period), and from the 12 weeks till 14 weeks of age (force feeding period).
The objectives of this work are: 1. Study the effect of duck breed (Muscovy and Mulard) on productive performance traits (live body weight, carcass traits), foie gras grade, liver and meat chemical composition and some blood biochemical parameters as well as mortality percentage after overfeeding period. 2. Estimate the effect of feeding regime (ad- ibitum feeding and forced feeding) on productive performance traits, live body weight, carcass traits, liver and meat chemical composition and some blood biochemical parameters of ducks after.
