Abstract

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) describes a wide range of
symptoms, including difficulty with social interaction and communication
skills have a tendency to respond inappropriately in conversation and lack
the ability to build relationships as well as unusually repetitive behavior,
their siblings have different psychiatric symptoms ranges from
externalizing to internalizing symptoms.
We aimed from this study to predict the risk factors for developing
autism, to study the impact of autism on psychological well-being of their
siblings, to study the degree of impairment of mental capacities in autistic
children and mental capacities of their siblings, to study specific EEG
patterns in autism and their siblings, to study PET scan to autism and
their siblings and compare them with normal typically developed children
for early diagnosis.
This is cross sectional study, was done on 3 groups: group 1:
Contains 20 Autistic spectrum disorder child, group 2: Contains 30
autistic children ’s neurotypically developed siblings and group 3:
Contains 30 normal control of typically developed child recruited from
Pediatric outpatient clinic, Menoufiya University hospital and all groups
have been undergone for the followings:
1-Sociodemographic data sheet according to Fahmy and El-Sherbini
scale for social classification.
2-Sheet of pregnancy and birth complications.
3-Clinical psychiatric interview including general and medical
examination and DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for ASD.
4- Childhood Autism Rating scale (CARS II).
