Abstract

In this thesis, the structural birefringence in the suggested design is introduced via shifting the positions of selected air holes which avoids complex elliptical holes that suffers fabrication problems .Therefore, the reported structure offers a design for the visible and near IR region. The numerical analysis of highly sensitive multichannel SPR PCF biosensor is introduced by using full vectorial finite element method (FV-FEM) with anisotropic perfectly matched layer (PML). The proposed sensor consists of micro fluidics setup, waveguide and metallic layers integrated into a single structure. Therefore, the suggested design is compact sensor with better integration than the conventional optical fiber SPR biosensors. The numerical results show that the proposed biosensor offers high refractive index sensitivity of about 2200 nm/RIU , 2400 nm/RIU,2200 nm/RIU, and 2400 nm/RIU according to the magnetic fields distributions H_11^x,H_11^y,〖 H〗_12^x, and〖 H〗_12^y modes respectively. The Proposed Sensor has the ability to support four well-distinct core-guided modes that can perform multi-channel/analyte detection with high accuracy.
