Abstract

Nanotechnology inters all field of life such as medicine, science, communication, cosmetics, structure, and architecture and now plays crucial role in the field of conservation of heritage buildings. Nano technology can be considered as the modernization technology which offers new ways to create smaller, lighter, cheaper, faster and longer lasting devices which work efficiently. All heritage buildings suffer from aging processes and degradation effects. Deterioration phenomena occur due to environmental conditions such as climate, pollution, biological agents, and mechanical stresses. In order decrease these degradation processes it is necessary to accomplish conservation interventions, restoration processes, consolidation processes and degradation prevention treatments. Conservation of heritage buildings plays a crucial role in people’s civilization and needs to follow up the modern technology in this field. Therefore it is needed to use nanotechnology applications, which applied on international heritage buildings conservation case studies, in local case studies which have similar materials and degradation problems. The new Science for Conservation has developed materials and methods for treating and conservation the heritage buildings. The search for new scientific methods for the heritage buildings conservation would allow the transfer of our cultural heritage to future generations. The exchanging of the international experiments in developing and using nanomaterials for the processes of heritage buildings conservation, illustrates that the use of these nanomaterials achieved great results in conservation of cultural heritage elements, such as restoration, consolidation and preservation, and prevention of degradation of the conservation processes. The use of nanomaterials in conservation processes will lead to decrease the cost of these processes at the long term. The research illustrated through the analytical studies that the using of nanoparticles of the materials used in the field of the conservation of some heritage buildings zones like stone, wallpaintings, canvas, wood and glass has achieved a better solutions for treatments.
