Abstract

Sprinkle irrigation is one of the most pressurized irrigation method used in sandy soil of Egypt especially for high value crop. It offers a large degree of control of water application to meet water requirements of crops. Irrigation scheduling of irrigation systems is based on a meteorological method which estimate crop evapotranspiration based on its growth stage. These strategies minimize periods of water stress and leaching below the rootzone. However, for irrigation systems in large field, it is difficult to optimize irrigation amount because of non uniformity conditions. Therefore, sprinkler irrigation systems need to be managed under the field conditions founded on sprinkler performance, layout , and overlapping percentage. For a given sprinkler system, an optimal irrigation scheduling can be found by extrapolating data from a small experiment, which has high uniformity of irrigation applications using a wide range of crop water use (crop ET) to a big field, which has high non uniformity. For the heretofore purposes, experimental study work was conducted for peanut in sandy soil, which has 1.57 g cm3 average bulk density in 1.2-meter soil depth and 25.2 cm/h saturated hydraulic conductivity, located at an arid site in northern Egypt.
