Abstract

The present study aims at evaluating the deficiency of the most important three micronutrients in the Egyptian agriculture in recent years i.e. iron, manganese and zinc. The ultimate objective of the study was to set up the critical levels for the dtpa -soil test which is increasingly used in most soil laboratortories in egypt for extracting
The ”available” form of the three nutrients included in this study. Establishing these critical levels under Egyptian conditions is urgently needed to make the interpretation of the soil test results possible and useful for fertilizer recommendations.
Nine soils were carefully selected for the study to represent the major types of soils of Egypt and to cover the ”old land” in the Nile valley and delta, as, well as, the ”New land” in three of the important reclamation sites in Egypt. So, the studied soils included three main groups of soils, I.e. the fine-textured alluvial soils of the Nile valley and delta, the desert sandy soils both in Sinai and the fringes of the Nile valley and delta, and the calcareous soils in the northern part of Egypt
