Abstract The present investig&tion aimed &t the study of mould E1nd yea.st contamin&tion in grains and spices and their toxins. Out of 300 grain samples ex~ined, 20 genera of fungi were isolated. Genus Aspergillusw&s the most pre domina.nt one (92.33), next was genus Penicillium (79.67), followed by Rhizopus, Absida and Mucor spp., but the two genera. Verticylium &nd Geotricum constituted the rare iso lates (0.33 ). Among the identified Aspergilli, member .of Aspergillus flavus-oryzae group was the predominant one with high percentage of isolation. Four spec ies of candida (Q. tropica.lis, C .guilliermondii, C. psendotropicalis and Q.k:rusei) were isol&ted from 14 samples of grains. |
