Abstract

In this study some health disorders among workers in chickenbreeding farms were studied.
The study was conducted in three chickenbreeding farms (Menoufiya governorate).
The study included two groups, the first one was the exposed group o chicken(50 workers) randomly selected from the different chicken reeding farms.
The second group included 50 randomly selected non xposed workeRs.Full clinical examination, complete blood count, spirometricmeasurements and skin prick testing were carried out for both groups. The following were obtained:
1- Concentration of dust (total and organic), formaldehyde and mmonia did not exceed the permissible exposure limit.
2-The prevalence of chest symptoms e.g. cough (wet and dry),wheezes and expectoration was higher among exposed than controls.
3- The past medical history of back pain and epeated fever presented higher prevalence in exposed than controls while that of bronchial asthma and seasonal rhinorrhea resented lower prevalence in exposed than controls.
4- Results of complete blood count were statistically non ignificant among exposed and controls.
5-Concerning the mean values of spirometric measurements, all the arameters (VC%, FVC%, FEV1%, FEV1/FVC%, FEF25% and FEF50%) showed significantly lower mean values among exposed than controls.
6- Exposed workers with positive skin test results presented lower ean values of spirometric measurements e.g. FEV1%,FEV1/FVC% and FEF50% than those with negative skin test results.
The needed recommendations were put to help improving these onditions.
