Abstract
This study was carried out in Shebin EL-Kom city and its district and involved 400 elderly women aging=60 years .
There are two groups :- Rural group : household survey of 200 eldery women lives in EL Kom- El Akder village (selected by simple random sample) after gining their acceptance .
Urban group: An equal number was selected from Shebin EL-Kom city through systemic random sample .
The aim of the work is to assess quality of life among eldery women in rural and urban sample, and to study the relationship between quality of life and socio-demographic characteristics, life style, reproductive history, and health problems to identify the possible factors that effect quality of life .
The fieldwork started at March(2002) and ended in Septemper (2002). The studied groups were subjected to interview using questionnaires included personal data life style, reproductive history, and data on over-all health status and quality of life .
Also this study was conducted to :-
1- Assess quality of life (QOL) among eldery women in Shebin EL-Kom city and district .
2- Study factors affecting QOL of the studied group .
3- Putting recommendations to improve QOL of such eldery women accordingly .
