Abstract Many theories had been put to explain the aetiology of pre-eclamptic toxaemia . However , no single theory was sufficient to explain the full picture of the disease . One of the recent ideas that may explain the aetiology of pre-eclamptic toxaemia is the change in the serum concentration of trace elements * This is because cadmium toxicity was reported to induce hypertension and oedema in experimental animals * Moreover , it was reported that cadmium toxicity induces decrease in the serum concentration of zinc . The aim of this work was to study the serum concentration of cadmium , zinc and magnesium in pre-eclamptic patients before and after treatment with magnesium sulphate .Furthermorei to aascess * the effect of treatment with magnesium sulphate on the mean arterial blood pressure and protein concentration |
