Abstract This study aimed at investigation of the possible health disorders due to exposure to X-ray radiation in Radiology Departments in Menoufiya Hospitals. Personal, occupational and reproductive histories, clinical, haem atological and neurobehavioural studies were conducted for one hundred and forty two workers (105 males and 37 females) occupationally exposed to X-ray radiation. An equal number of subjects was taken as a control group after matching for age, sex and socioeconomic status etc. Also, the environmental safety was assessed as regard to the level of X-ray radiation exposure. The measured doses of X-ray radiation were lower than MPDE limits recommended by NCRP (1975) for occupational exposed workers and general population. The study revealed that the prevalence of reproductive abnormalities was significantly higher among exposed (14.78%) than controls (6.33%) (P < 0.05), and was significantly increasing with the increase in the time intensity facXD1 JP < DM01). Skin examination (specially finger tips) revealed that skin lesions (atrophy and telangectasia) were significantly more. |
