Abstract
In this study, we evaluated the efficacy and complications of 810nm contact transscleral diode laser cyclophotocoagulation in the treatment of refractory glaucoma.
15 eyes of 15 patients with advanced refractory glaucoma with no or poor visual potential were treated with cyclodiode within afollowed up period of 6 months. They were seven males and eight females with an age range between 31 to 75 years.
Of the 15 eyes included in this study, 11 were successfully treated. The overall success probability was 76.5% (reduction of IOP 21 mmHg was successfully achieved in 73.3%; while relief of pain was achieved in 80% of cases). Four eyes needed retreatment.
Post-operative complications included; post-operative pain in 4 eyes (26.7%), conjunctival burn in 3 eyes (20%), uveitis in 2 eye (13.3%) and bacterial keratitis in one eye. No serious complications had occurred.
