Abstract Salicylates are one of the most frequently involved drugs in accidental childhood poisoning and adult overdoses . during salicylates overdoses and toxicity electrolytes and acid-base disturbances are characteristic of them . The aim of this work is to study the relationship between different salicylate blood level, electrolytes and acid-base disturbances and clinical manifestations, in albino rats .The study was done on 50 male albino rats with average weight 100 grm, and they were divided into5 equal groups . 1st group in the control group . the other 4 groups were given acetyl salicylic acid orally in different doses . where , the 2nd group was given a dose equal approximately to therapeutic dose. In human i.e. 100 mg/kg. the 3rd group was given a dose equal to1/5 ld50 i.e. 350 mg/kg . the 4th group was given a dose equal to ½ ld50 i.e. 875 mg/kg. |
