Abstract Measurement of aipha-fetoprotein is considered an important screening well as definitive test in diagnosis of many pathological conditions. The measurement of this protein depends on its antigenic properties which allows its detection using different immunologic tests. The development of the sensitive immunoassay techniques as radio- immunoassay and enzyme immunoassay permitted its quantitation at different decision levels important for diagnosis, and evaluaiton of prognosis of many diseases. Recently chemiluminescent compounds are introduced as labels for immunoassay. The Ciba Coming Diagnostics Corp, has introduced a commercially available chemiluminescence kit for the sensitive quantitation of AFP. It utilizes the actid s& (E’ \akt\\tcI ttocc\ora\ ai\o’j aic a simplified separation procedure based on magnetizable particles. The aim of this work is to evaluate the cherriiluminescence technique, regards precision, accuracy, sensitivity and specificity as well as practicability characteristics compared to the ELISA in assaying serum AFP. |
