Abstract The study was conducted to estimate the prevalence and intemisty of dental caries and perioudontal disease, and to assess the treatment needs among children aged between 6 – 12 years old of both sexes attending primary schools of Alexandria Governorate in 1993/94 . The sample comprised 1000 pupils selected randomly from the six districts of the governorate and submitted to dental examination which was carried out in the schools under the natural light and available facilities using the methods and criteria described by the World Health Organization ( WHO ), 1987 . The results showed that : 1- Dental caries status : Three hundred and fourteen pupils ( 31.4% ) out of the examined pupils were caries free in both their primary and permanent dentitions . |
