Abstract

The River Nile is a very important inland water, where is considered as the life artery of Egypt.
The aim of the present investigation was mainly intended to characterize the water quality of Moues, Saft, Dewada and Bilbas canals, economically important water habitats in El- Sharkia Governorate, Egypt.
Physical and chemical properties of water and their relation with epiphytic algae were used as biological indicators of pollution. Relationships between epiphytic algae and some dominated macrophytes in different sites under investigation. Water samples and hyDROPhytes plants seasonally collected from four canals (Moues, Saft, Dewada and Bilbas) during the period from autumn 2000 to summer 2001.
