Abstract
Since the studies on the activity levels of beta-glucuronidase in bilharzial cancer as well as bilharzial bengin lesions are limited, the present work was conducted to determine the status of activity level of the enzyme in these tissues by histochemical as well as biochemical techniques. The study included 70 patients with operable bladder cancer, who underwent total cystectomy. Tissue samples were obtained from all patients, classified and graded histopathologically. Also, beta-glucuronidase histochemical staining was done in these tissues. Biochemical determination of beta-glucuronidase was done in 20 cases, both in tissues and serum.
