Abstract Fatigue is the most common symptom of multiple sclerosis (MS). This study aims at finding the relation between fatigue and sleep disturbances in MS. The study included 20 MS patients (10 patients with fatigue and 10 patients without fatigue) and 10 healthy control subjects. All patients and controls underwent polysomnographic assessment. Results revealed statistically significant longer sleep latency in fatigued patients compared to controls. Moreover, there was a positive significant correlation between fatigue and sleep latency. We concluded that MS patients had significant sleep disturbances. Fatigue in MS could be attributed to longer sleep latency which was related to depression in our patients. |
