Abstract

Coronary artery disease is the most common form of cardiovascular disease and the single most important cause of premature death in the developed world. Recently a new diagnostic electrocardiographic criterion was proposed and not based on ST segment changes but consists of a composition of changes in Q, R and S waves the so called QRS score. This score has a significantly higher sensitivity and specificity than conventional ST segment shifts.
The aim of the study was to correlate the diagnostic ability of dipyridamole abnormal QRS score values versus ST segment changes in patients undergoing Tc-99m sestamibi scintigraphy for the detection of myocardial ischemia and CAD by use of this pharmaceutical stress test.
This study included thirty (30) patients (men and women) who underwent TC-99m sestamibi scintigraphy after dipyridamole infusion. Our research was done in Misr international hospital during the period from November 2006 till April 2007. All data were collected, summarized, presented and analyzed by using an appropriate statistical package program.
Our results showed frequencies of ischemia among study group by ST segment depression 13.4%, QRS score 33.4%, and MPI were 50% .
The sensitivity and specificity of ST segment changes versus MPI were 26.6% and 100% respectively ,while that of QRS score versus MPI were 66.6% and 100% respectively .
