Abstract The present study includes three experiments which are carried out over three successive years (1980 - 1982) at maryout experimental station belonging to the desert institute and located some 30 km. South west of alexandria. The main objectives of the present study are to investigate some probable reasons which may limit productivity of male lambs under feed lot during summor season. 60 male lambs of 6 month old are used in the first experiment, 30 of these lambs are barki and 30 crossbred (5/8 merino 3/8 barki). On July 1st. 1980, lambs of each breed group are divided into two sub-groups, one is allocated in a separate shaded pen and the other in unshaded one. Shading treatments last for 3 months during which full data are obtained for different experimental groups on certain physiological parameters (rectal temperature, rt and respiration rate per minute, rr) feed intake, water consumption and live body weight changes. |
