Abstract
During the period from January 2004 to September 2005, forty highrisk patients underwent abdominal operations through paramedian abdominal incisions in General Surgery Department, Tanta University Hospital.These patients were randomly divided into two groups: group A, in which the paramedian incisions were closed by the conventional method and reinforced by pollpropylene mesh placed within the rectus sheath deep to the rectus aMominis muscle, ffid gtroup B in which the paramedian incisions were closed by the conventional method only.
