The study of the importance of open green areas, nature, and related subjects represents nowadays very important tobics because of the increase in the size of cities, population, the development of industrial technology, and use of chemicals. The increase in population was on the account of reduction of green areas.
This work represents an attempt to reach a scientific analysis for the basis and standards required to design green areas and gardens in Egypt through the theoretical background and applied examples. The text is in arabic and includes four chapters.
Chapter One: contains the study of the problem of lacking green areas in Egyptian cities. A brief historical review of the importance, and design of green areas on the national, and local measurements in given. Types and kinds of parks in cities and their advantages are reviewed. The problem of lacking green areas in Egyptian cities, is then shown for the purpose of finding a solution.
Chapter Two: Presents the items and basis for designing green areas. This includes natural, industrial compoenents in the gardens, and spaces for practicing different activities. What should be noticed in the design of gardens is then identified keeping traditions in mind.
Chapter Three: Contains a comparison between green areas in different locations in the world and that in the Egyptian cities interms of standards. Examples of some scandinavian cities and some cities in Germany were represented as well as some of ancient and new cities in Egypt giving the rates of green areas in it.
Chapter Four: Presents the results of the questionn aire made in three cities in upper Egypt namely: Minia, Assiut, and Sohage.
The purpose was to study whiter the international standards would suit the people in Egyptian cities. Then recommendations were concluded and represented.
