Abstract Chlamydia trachomatis is a major asymptom~tic and ublinical p~lvic ~ticlogic factor in infla.~atoxy disease (PID) . Tbe most i.portant seqoalae of PID is the cccurenc~ of \nfertJllty resultlng fro~ ccclu~ion, re~t~iction or dysfunctl~n of fallopi8n tubes, althouqh a correlation between tubal infertility and the Fr@valanc@ of ~@ru. antibodies to C.trachaaatis has been obse~ved. Th@ at. ~f thi~ .or~ Cblanydlal infection In ia to study the E9yp,tlan WOlD •••.• magnitude of with tubal infertility and findin~ the correlation-if any-between the severity Df pr~vlou~ chla.ydlal Infection and the degree of tubal da••aIJe. This stUdy vas car~l~d ~ut Qn 100 infertile ~o.ent 81 had pri.ary infertility and 13 secondary infertIlity. TUbal damage vas inv&sti9_t~~ by llplQdQl or uroqraffin HSG and by la~ar~scopy. In stUdy ~roup 50 cases with tubal daaagB 10 ca5es shoved cornual block ISubgrQup-A}. 26 cases sbowed perltllb~l adb~~lon5 (Subgroup-B) and 14 caBea ahow~d distal tubal block (Subgroup-C). The con~rol groqp, 50 cases had 116 non tubal infertility i.e. their fallopian tubes we~e patent a~ proved by HSG and 1apar~~copy. rorty one C~6eS had primary infertility and 9 cages had secondary infertility. Male f~ctor Inf~rtility vas ex~luded by husband’s sper~09ram in both 9r~ups. All cases vere 3ubj~cted to full clinical hIstory and abd¢~lnal as well a~ IQ~al pelvic examination. ~Qutine lnt~Itl1lty ~~rt~p vas carrIed out and tubal factor wa~ investigated by HSG and Lapa~o~cOpy, C.tIacho.atis ~ntibodles wer~ Investigat@d by Chla.ydia indirect fluorescent ~ntibody (IPA) technique u51n~ chlaMydia spot-IV~Klt. C.tracho.atls antibodies were desonstrated in 44 C~5ea la8~l out 50 ca~es at the ~tudy group in co~tra5t to 24 cases (ta~1 out 50 cases of the control g~onp. The .ean titer of seropositlve c~ses in the study gr~up va~ 180.364 ~ 202.9g~ and th~t of seropositlve cases in th~ control group vas 8~±56.36 Itable-tO |
