Abstract The rosy scarabaeid beetle generally cause serious damage to the blossoms of the fruit trees with special reference to the apple trees thus affecting the quality and quantity of the yield. In the present work, detailed ecological study on its occurrence, seasonal abundance in response to variations in soil moisture and temperature, its diurnal activity, sex ratio and host plants have been undertaken. This work deals also with some toxicological studies using soil insecticides, juvenile hormone mimic compounds or plant extracts to elucidate the role of these material for combating this insect pest in a well developed integrated pest management program. |
