Abstract This study was done to assess low back pain severity and the radiological degenerative changes in the lumbosacral spine in diabetic (type 2 DM) versus non-diabetic postmenopausal women. This study was carried out on one hundred female patients, 50 had type 2 diabetes mellitus diagnosed according to the diagnosis and classification of the World Health Organization (1999), and the other 50 are non-diabeticsv,bath.had low back pain for more than 3 months. Age of both diabetic and non-diabetic groups ranged between 45 -- 60 years, with the body mass index (BMI) ranged between 20 - <30, and their body weight did not exceed 75 kilograms, with absence of any back trauma and/or surgical interference. All the patients participated in this work were housewives. Excluded from this study; multipara (those with 4 or more children), patients having spondylolisthesis, sacralization, lumbaralization, spina bifida, sacroiliitis and patients that their work necessitates heavy object lifting were also excluded. |
