Abstract The aim of this work was to study the concentration of nicillin in serum of children with rheumatic heart disease Dilowing intramuscular administration of 1,200,000 units of enzathine penicillin. This was in an attempt to determine appropriate spacing of benzathine penicillin injections prophylaxis of rheumatic fever. The study was conducted on twenty—five school-age children .Lth quiescent rheumatic heart disease attending the Cardiology Linic of the Alexandria University Children’s Hospital. ey were 13 males and 12 females. Their age ranged between land 13 years. The patients were selected so as to have not received nicil1in in the last month or other antibiotics in the t week prior to entry to the study.
