Abstract The present study was carried out in the period from August 1989 to August 1990 on 226 infants of age ranging between one and 24 months (125 males and 101 females) who where clinically diagnosed to have an acute enteritis, and on 25 apparently healthy infants as. a control group.The aim of this study was to determine the role of different enteropathogens including Rotavirus,enteropathogenic E. COIi, Campyjobacter jji, salmonella, 8higella and Yersinia enoa in etiology of infantile diarrhea in Menoufia.Bacteriological study was carried by culturing stool specimens on appropriate media. The isolated bacterial pathogens were identified by their culturing, microscopic and biochemical characters. Serological identification was done for salmonella and shigella isolates, Sensitivity of different bacterial isolates was te8ted in vitro against conunonly acting antibiotics.Rotavirus antigens were detected in stool by ELISA technique using Behring ELISA processor. |
