Abstract Pollution by the silica dust has become one of the major oblems on the environment especially in Egypt as a result of idespread of sandbricks and cement industries. This research was conducted to study the hepatic disorders nong workers exposed to silica dust. For this purpose, 75 cposed workers were chosen of Queisna Sandbricks Factory vlenoufiya Governorate - Egypt) and 25 service workers as )ntrols from Menoufiya Faculty of Medicine were vestigated. All members of study were interviewed using especially sigrfed questionnaire including data on medical histories, inical examination including abdominal ultrasonography with ecial emphasis on liver and spleen. Blood samples were taken for liver function parameters 1OT, SGPT, SAP, y-GT, total and direct bilirubin, serum umin and total plasma protein), procollagen III peptide and -antitrypsin, detection of viral hepatitis markers (B & C), I haemagglutination test for schistosomiasis. Urine and ol samples were collected for routine analysis. Also, large st X-ray film was done for each worker in this study. |
