Abstract The present thesis comprises three chapters. The first includes a l i t e r a t u r e survey on the theoretical background for organic polymers . Their applications are given especially from the separation of metal ions point of view. A number of selective func tionalized polymers toward d i f f e r e n t c l a s s e s of metal ions are discussed. The spectral properties of the bis(sa.1- icylidene )-diamine compounds and their complexes are also outlined. The introduction is ended by the aim of investigation where : i- Syntheses and characterization of a number of selective polymerizable chelating salicylaldehyde derivatives toward c e r t a i n t r a n s i t i o n metal ions. ii- Introducing of such chelating compounds i n t o ’ different polymer matrices by copolymerization with \ styrene and 4-vinylpyridine and homopolymerization. |
