Abstract
The present work deals with the Precambrian geology of the said study area. This work is considered as a part of the team - work study of the geology of the Precambrian rocks of the central Eastern Desert of Egypt at the Geology Department of Tanta University under the joint supervision of Prof. Dr. M. K. Akaad and Prof. Dr. A . M. Noweir. The present work aims at the following main points : 1 - Detailed geological mapping for the different rock units of the district (scale 1 : 40,000), in an attempt to elucidate their structural and lithologic position. 2 - To classify and name the rock units in the area, in compliance with the Code of Stratigraphic Nomenclature (1961, 1970 and 1972). 3 - Petrographic study of the various rocks of the mapped units. 4 - Petrochemical study on some selected rock units to elucidate their post - tectonic environment. 5 - To throw some light on the tectonic setting of this district in the light of the plate tectonic framework.
