Abstract
Pwo week-old seedlings of two cuZtivars of Hardeum ottlgare L. (Giza-119 and Sahrawy) were grown under contr o l l e d temperature and Light in a growth chamber in s a l i n e and non-aaline aand cultures, prodded with e i t h e r IA4 or kinetin alone o r combined with a mixture of six amino - acids (AAM), added t o the base n u t r i e n t solution. - 2 Gemination of Giza waa stimulated with e i t h e r kinetin or IAA plue A.AH and that of Sahrawy by W. In each v a r i e t y the lshoot height and root depth decreased with kinetin alone or with A&! under non-aaline c u l t u r e but*were appreciably increased with AAlkI under s a l i n e culture. Fresh weights decreased under non-ealine c u l t u r e treated with Kinetin alone o r with AAM while the drj weights of roots inoreaeed. Addition of AA.M t o s a l i n e c u l t u r e stimulated the root fresh weights of each v a r i e t y and t h a t of shoot in Sahr8wy. Addition of either IAA o r kinetin alone o r with U maintained succlence less than control. 4 Under s a l i n e culture the sell area of the upper epfderais and lower epidermis waa increased by A.AM o r kinetin -. and i n non-saline culture t h a t of the lower epidezmh increased by hinetin and U. In non-saline c u l t u r e the area of vascular bundle and minimum thickness of meaophyll inoreaeed with kinetin plug M.
