Abstract One of the most controversial topics in medicine is the relationship of lipoproteins to the development of atherosclerosis; Whereas high level of LDL-cholesterol is atherogenic, increased levels of HDL-cholesterol appear to afford protection against atherosclerosis. Hormonal contraceptions, both oral and in jectables, affect the cardio-vascular system. Venous thrombosis, ischaemic heart disease, strokes and hypertension as complications of hormonal contraception have been reviewed in the literatures . |
