Abstract
The present thesis compri see semchapters and the contents are subdivided into, introduction, experimental aa well as resulta and discussion. In chapter I, a l i t e r a t u r e survery is given on oxygen binding i n nautral and synthetic dioxygen complexes and the chemistry of the tetradentate Schiff base complexes. Chapter I1 includes a detailed sccount; about the experimental procedures and methods of prepare.tion or measurements on the organic ligands and their manganese, iron and cobalt complexes. Chapter 111, contains the results and discussion of the electronic absorption spectra, the infrared hectra and ’H nuclear magnetic resonance of the tetradentate Schiff base liganda derived from 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde and diamines.
