Abstract Pwo experiments were conducted a t the experimental station of Sakha Poultry Farm, Kafr-El-Sheikh, Animal Fmduction Research I n s t i t u t e , Ministry of Agricul t u re, Pvventy adult Rhode Island Red cocks 56 weeks of age were employed in the first experiment t o determine the d i g e s t i b i l i t y of protein and energy for five experime~tai diets (17.5, 13.6, 15.0, 15.5 and 15.0% protein and 2824, 2857, 2890, 2664 and 2981 Kcal/kg MI3 respectively), for treatmentsl, 2 , 3, 4 and 5 respectively. In the second experimentJ 200 hens and 20 cocks Rhode Island Red, mere used from 32 t o 56 weeks of age to study the effect of the five experimental dietary energy and protein levels dur5.x the laying period on laying hen performance, Incregising the daily protein consumption from 19.6 to 21.9 grams, increased the digestion cc\efficl.!x?.k -f protein by ?.I%, while further increase in pr:t~3?--1 a:i~s(-.n:3::ioy to 24.9 grams caused an increase in the digestr;im caeffl.. cient of protein by only 2.3%. Increasing the gross energy i n the diets caused steadily an increase i n energy metabolism in isoprotein diets, but increasing the gzosa enern. |
