Abstract In the present study, different analytical techniques (viz.: solvent extraction, precipitation and flotation) were used for the determination of micro-amounts of some selected drugs; the antitussive drug: Dextromethorphane (DEX), the antispasmodic drug: Hyoscine n-butylbromide (HBB), the antihypertensive drug: Losartan potassium (LSR) and the anti depressant drug: Sertraline hydrochloride (SER). These drugs, besides their medical importance, possess nitrogen atoms that give them great ability to form stable ion pairs with cobalt (II) and/ or molybdenum (V) thiocyanate and bismuth (III) tetraiodide complexes which are widely used in pharmaceutical analysis. The formed ion pairs are separated by the proposed separation techniques(precipitation, solvent extraction and flotation) followed by spectrophotometric determination of the investigated drugs in pure forms and in pharmaceutical preparations. |
